Just a girl next door talking about work, life, and how to get by
Send me a note!
If I have learned anything from this pandemic and from this time in quarantine it’s been that you need to take things day by day and one step at a time. . It feels as if things are not just changing by the week or by the day, but by the hour. . It can be really overwhelming, and for someone like me who loves certainty, it can cause a lot of stress. . To help myself get through this, every day I set out a plan for that day and I focus on three things. . 1.What will my workout be and when will i do it? 2.What meal will I make for dinner? (Weird one, but it’s true!) 3.What’s the one goal I want to accomplish that day? . Those are the only three things I let myself focus on getting done each day. . Every day I look back and think to myself, did I do my best today? Normally I have a really high standard of what my “best” is, but not right now. . Right now, I just focus on my health, my physical movement, and just one thing that I want to accomplish that day. If I complete those three things I know I would have done the best I could. . We can’t look too far in the future and we can’t stress ourselves out trying to figure it out how this will all end because no one knows. . What you can do, is do is strive to do your very best every single day. What is your best now might be different than before. It’s okay to lower our standards, give our selves a break, and just take it day by day. . What are your daily goals? . #mondaymotivation #wfh #goals #mindfulmillennial
NEW BLOG! “Finding Joy” . . @msrachelhollis , @mrdavehollis , and everyone at @theholliscompany have been really promoting this notion of “finding your joy”, and “joy lists”. And I am obviously A about it and wanted to talk about it in this weeks blog. . . You might be thinking, that’s dumb, why do I have to look for joy? I don’t need to look for reasons to be happy. . . With our current situation I actually totally disagree. I think being on a constant quest to find joy daily is essential when we are physically separated from our loved ones and are being constantly fed reasons to be afraid and sad. . . Now, more than ever, it’s so important we continue to look for the joy and the good things that are still happening all around us. . . This weeks blog walks you through how I am doing that today. 💁🏼♀️☺️💛 . . Before you head over to the blog, tell me, what brings you joy? 🙂 . #findingjoy #mindfulmillennial
Do you ever randomly get a compliment at exactly the time you need it and you just think to yourself or say out loud, “wow, that just made my day.” Or “you have no idea how much I needed to hear that today.” . . Has there ever been a moment when someone did something so selfless and thoughtful that it brought tears to your eyes? . . Did anyone ever give you a hug or a note of appreciation, that suddenly eases the pain or just makes everything okay again? . . Those small or big acts of kindness shoot right through our heart and into our core. . . Being kind is so easy, it costs nothing, yet makes such a huge impact on the person it’s bestowed upon. . . When I went to see Rachel Hollis at her conference they had these compliment cards in our workbooks for us to give to people we didn’t know. My friend @carolinelswanson is an absolute angel and carried them with her to give to people through the day. And she LOVED it. . . The way it made her light up and then the way it made the people she gave it to light up was such a heart warming interaction to watch. It reminded me how easy and how important it is to spread kindness, hugs, love notes, smiles, and kind words to people you do and don’t know. . . If we were all a little happier, a little kinder imagine how we could change the world? Or at the very least, how we could change each other’s worlds. . Spread it my friends. Especially now. Spread that shit like confetti. 😉 . #spreadkindness #beingkindiscool
One thing being quarantined has done for me, is it has forced me to slow down. . . On a typical week day or weekend I am go go go. I have plans or a schedule to follow almost every single day, and I tend to plan my day down to the hour to make sure that I get everything in. . . I love doing a lot, being busy, and seeing my friends and family, so I’m not complaining at all. It’s just how I live my life, on the go. . . As I mentioned in my “what I learned from yoga training” blog, slowing down is really hard for me. I not only do a lot, but I do a lot, quickly. I walk fast, I talk fast, and am always trying to fit in as much as I humanely possibly can. . . With the quarantine, this is another time that I am being forced to slow down and I don’t hate it. . . I loved waking up this morning without an alarm clock and with no plans or obligations. . I loved lazily practicing yoga. . I loved making my moms Italian dinner on my own. . I loved cleaning out my closets and jewelry case. . I love that I was in my pjs all day with no intentions of showering. . I love the calm. . I love the relaxation. . I really truly do love some parts of this pause, and I’m really grateful for it. . . I really miss my parents and family, but I know I’ll hug them again soon. . . In the meantime I’m going to write out my blessings, and the good things that are coming from this quarantine, because I truly am grateful for this much needed pause. . . #mindfulmillennial #gratitude #practicethepause
NEW BLOG! “How to add value during tough times” . . I was inspired to write this blog because this was a question that kept rolling around in my own mind the past couple of days and weeks. . During this time of uncertainty, it’s been really difficult to move forward. For me, it almost feels like we are in this weird limbo of a standstill. . Many decisions and next steps are going to be based on how the virus evolves and how long it will be, and none of us have any answers to those questions. Customers are going to be a little more reluctant to buy or try something new, and no one wants to plan too far ahead because you don’t know what it looks like. . This can be difficult when trying to plan or work towards your work and personal goals. Leaving you feeling listless and a little lost. That’s how I felt at least. . Then I turned the question away from me and towards my clients, candidates, and audience and asked myself, ‘What can I do to help?, “How can I continue to add-value for then during this hard time?” . Once I changed my focus, the lists started coming and the creative juices started flowing. . Check out this blog to see how you can continue to add value during this tough time. . What are you doing for your customer? . . #mindfulmillennial #addingvalue #customersfirst
NEW BLOG!! “Ways to stay healthy while stuck at home” . . As you know, I like to move a lot and living a healthy lifestyle is a non-negotiable in my life. . . I truly believe that having a healthy mind and body are fundamental pillars to success. . . This is why I make it my top priory every.👏🏻single.👏🏻day. 👏🏻 . Unfortunately being stuck inside because of corona virus. We are out of our typical routines of being in an office, going to the gym, or whatever that looks like for you. . And being home all the time could get tricky. This is when keeping up with those healthy habits can get tough. . It gets easy to skip a workout, only order take out, drink multiple week nights and lay on the couch WAY more than you should. . And you are not alone. I found myself having these tempting thoughts even though they are WAY outside of my norm. . But we need to find a new normal, find a new routine and habits to help us stay on track with our health goals. . In this weeks blog I have shared with you what I am doing to stay healthy while stuck at home. . . What are you doing to stay healthy? . . #healthyliving #healthylifestyle #healthyhabits #eatwithem #mindfulmillennial
