I’ve got to be honest with you guys, I have not had an easy time with all of these changes the past couple of weeks. I have had A LOT of change happen in my life, and if I am being honest, I haven’t always had the best reactions to it. I went through at least 2 boxes of tissues from crying.  Had to drink Chamomile tea or take a melatonin vitamin to fall asleep because my heart wouldn’t stop racing.  I have even played out every single worst-case-scenario in my mind as if it’s already happening or it is “bound” to happen.

I have been very focused on myself, and have not been the BEST at staying positive, seeing through the clouds, and knowing that the sun is shining on the other side of this.

Then suddenly last week,  I was inspired.

The cloud was momentarily lifted and I could see the sun again, all because the 2nd love of my life, John Krasinski. (Don’t worry, Dan knows I love John).

John Krasinsku started his own “news network” called SGN, Some Good News. He decided to start this weekly show because he believed that there needed to be a news station that is purely dedicated to good news. There is too much bad news everywhere, so he wanted to broadcast all the good that is still happening in our world today. He shares the beautiful people and the heartwarming events that are happening everywhere, even during a pandemic.

I found it for the first time on the EXACT day that I needed it the most. I laughed, I cried (aka-sobbed), my heart felt warm, and I was so incredibly grateful for that light that it shed on my sad day.  After I watched it, I had my lightbulb moment.

Last week he put on a virtual graduation for the class of 2020 because graduations all over the world are being canceled. I don’t want to give away what it was about because it is absolutely a must-watch, but don’t worry, I attached a link here.

Even though the show was fantastic and it brought all the tears and laughs I needed that day, those weren’t the parts that gave me the inspired thought.  I was mid-cry fest when it dawned on me, it was the essence of the show and the service that it was providing that inspired me to switch my mindset.

The point of this news network is to share the good news, to help others feel happy and special.  It shines a light onto all of our different heroes that are out there, fighting, giving back, and spreading light and positivity. The best part is that he is putting this news network together purely to help and to give back to others, to help them feel good in this really difficult time.  This has nothing to do with him.  He is focused on helping others, and not himself.

That made me think, maybe we should all start doing that a bit more. Do our part to help others get through this, rather than focus on what’s going on in our own lives.  Switching out mindset to: How can we serve? How can we give back to others? How can we help?

It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture like a news network.  It could be as simple as checking in on a friend or a relative, smiling and thanking our essential workers, donating to your local food bank. Doing whatever you can to give back to others.

Once you switch your mindset from “how this is affecting me” to “how can I help them”, I guarantee you that the sun will start to shine through your current clouds. You’ll get a spark of energy that you haven’t felt in weeks and flicker of a flame in your heart where you used to feel cold and dark.  Your hope and inspiration will come back.

When we are focusing on how we can serve and help others, we always feel better because it simply feels good to help. It feels good to know that you are contributing to someone’s life in a positive way. This will change the thoughts that we are thinking, our perspective, and our worlds from cloudy to bright.

This will also change the world of those you are helping.  In the grand scheme of things, that is what matters most.  Lending a hand to your neighbor when we are down to help them get back up again.  This way, together, we all are helping to make this world a better place.

I know I can’t control what’s happening in the world around me, but I can control what I can give to others.  I can control the impact that I make.  All I have to do is switch my mindset and I am committed to doing that.

Let’s spread those good feelings.

Big love to you all.
