Millennials and Change.jpgMillennials grew up in times of rapid change. If you really think about it, the 21st century seems as far away from the 20th century as the 20th is to the Dark Ages!

Some 20th Century Innovations:

  • First Moving Picture
  • The Telephone
  • Nuclear Power
  • The Airplane
  • The Automobile
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Space travel
  • Internet

As transformative as these changes have been to mankind, the pace has been nowhere as fast as the technological inventions of the 21st century thus far:

21st Century Innovations (and we’re only 17 years in!):

  • AbioCor Artificial Heart
  • Robotics
  • Hydrogen Powered Cars
  • Human cloning
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Genetic Engineering
  • Nanotechnology
  • Automation
  • Smartphones
  • Social Media: Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, etc.

Every week there is a new app, technology or trend rolled out by entrepreneurs.  And if we don’t get them or check them out, and they become the next big thing, we will be playing catch up.  AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!

If your business isn’t keeping up and trying out the new technologies and processes that are propelling companies forward, then you are literally putting your company at risk for failure. Remember, if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse…your competition is not sleeping. And those millennials who are supposedly “ruining your workplace”?  They totally get it-and can help your company grow, but only if you LISTEN to them.

Millennials as a whole embrace transition, modernization and change. We truly understand and live the “no time to waste” lifestyle, and we are that way because we HAVE to be. It’s how we grew up. We understand that we have to constantly move upward and onward, otherwise we will be left behind.

And I think that’s what scares people the most – Change.  And the unknown behind what that change will be and how it will be done.  “My way is working just fine”, “I produce results and I’ve been a top player in this space for years”, “It  doesn’t make any sense to spend less time and somehow produce more results,-there is no way that will work, business doesn’t work that way”.

But a new way could work, and could change your world,-in a good way. And guess what, just because you’re not willing to do it or give it a shot, it doesn’t mean your competition is thinking the same way. You just have to be open to it,- and not be afraid…It’s time to completely embrace your “inner millennial” and find new, more efficient and relevant ways to do work. It may just save your business!
