I brought back the early morning wake-up calls, routine early morning workouts, journaling, and the occasional meditation. And even though this sounds like it’s the opposite of getting off the hamster wheel of life, and the monotony of doing the same thing over and over, getting back into those routines made me feel good. It made me feel accomplished. It made me feel alive. It forced me to do the things that fill up my cup.

I believe that’s because those are things that I do for myself. Not for my company or clients, not for my husband or son, not my family or friends, but just for Emily.

I think that one thing that makes life beautiful is making it uniquely ours. Stepping into and doing more of what feels good and what makes us happy. If we focus on that and giving back to ourselves, then we don’t feel stuck but like we are living the way we want to.

I do all of this first thing in the morning. I am not a night person, I have my most inspiration first thing in the morning. I have taken advantage of that knowledge about myself and I put it to good use. I try very hard to do something for myself every morning, whether that is just for 30 minutes or over an hour. But when I start my day that way everything feels easier. Everything seems more like a gift and less like “the cards I was dealt”, and it makes all the difference.

What does that look like for you? What do you love to do? What is something good for you that makes you feel good afterward?

As Gabby Bernstein says, “We are just aiming towards the next best feeling”.

Think about what that looks like for you and slowly start working towards it. What is the next best thing you can do for yourself daily that will make you feel good and will help YOU get unstuck?
